Choosing a host specially for you

Friday, January 9th, 2009 by Peter Zhang

Many people have struggled when it comes to choosing host. Some appears to be extremely cheap (UNLIMITED STORAGE FOR $3/mo!!!), and some appears to be professional (Quad Core processor with 8G Ram).

Depending on what type of user you are, we are here to find a host designed specially for you!

“I don’t want to pay anything!” – NovaHost

If you just started as a web geek, you might want to just ‘try’ what you can do with internet first without paying anything. Being probably the best host, Novahost offers cPanel 11 and really friendly support. It does not require any ads, and its uptime is one of the best out of all free hosts.

The plan on Novahost has 800MB storage and a ton of Bandwidth space. I am pretty sure average users won’t run out of them so easily, anyway. Sign up here: http://novahost.org

“I could spend a few bucks each month, you know”

Now here is where the competition coes in. A lot of hosts are running with “UNLIMITED SPACE!!!” or those sort of advertising titles with a really cheap price. Only a few of them is good, nevertheless. I have handpicked three of them:

DreamHost: If you plan to stick with a host for a long time, you would probably want to look at DreamHost. From what I heard, they have some really good friendly support, and high uptime (unlike other hosts, who “guarantees” 99.9% uptime without actually doing it). If you sign up with them with a long period (such as 10 years), the price can become really low compaerd to others.

HostMonster: The ideal “cheap and lots of stuff* host. With only a few dollars a month, you get TONNES of space, and bandwidth, and most importantly, a free domain and $50 advertising credits. Cheap, in a good way.

Hostgator: Users of Hostgator really like them, as I have heard. They are very well known in the hosting industries, and although the pricing is slightly higher than the other two, the support and the server quality pays back for it. Definitely worth it if you have a few extra dollars in your pocket.

“Are you kidding me? Asking me to be satisfactory with these hosts?”

One of the most reliable professional hosts you (or perhaps, your company) can choose is Media Temple. It offers just every professional feature that you would possibly look for, and a really nice looking Control Panel. If you are looking for reliability, I suggest you Media Temple with $20/mo

“You know, I don’t really know what I should choose”

Start with NearlyFreeSpeech then. You pay as much as you use, in a very reasonable rate too. You won’t waste any money buying any resources you don’t need!
