Transfer your songs from iPod to PC(or Mac or Linux) with YamiPod
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 by Peter ZhangI have two computers and one iPod. When I go to school, I want to listen to songs on the computer while working, but sadly I have not found a good solution other than plugging in and look for the musics in /iPod_Control/Musics.
I am not dumb to not know what a “ripping software” is, but I could never find a good, free one to work on Windows. In Linux, you have Amarok, or my recent discovery: YamiPod for Windows, Mac and Linux!
With an really-easy-to-use interface, you can rip your songs form iPod to PC in just a second. All the ID3 tags are properly imported with YamiPod, and the best part is that you can choose how to name it. A lot of other free ripping softwares doesn’t have this kind of feature.
Of course, YamiPod is not only a ripping software. There are a ton of things you can do with it, including syncing with local media files (instead of using itunes), adding notes, RSS/Podcasts, etc.
Ripping with YamiPod was also fast. My whole libray of 500songs are transferred with in 2 minutes. We also like how it supports all other platforms, too.
The only downside to this software is that it does not support the ‘new ipods’, meaning iPod touch or the iPhone, as they said on their homepage. However, I have never tested it (mainly because I don’t have one). It also seems that the author has not updated the software for quite a while, considering that it does not suppor the new models.
Nevertheless, YamiPod is a great substitution of iTunes. If you are getting sick of iTunes and its slow speed, try YamiPod =)
