Windows 7 RC has released!
Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 by Peter ZhangWow, it has been FAST! Beta was released in around December, and only after 5 months its RC is out. Microsoft has just sent the beta program participants an email announcing that Windows 7 RC is available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers already.
“Psh, I am not a MSDN nor a TechNet subscriber. Are you teasing us with your subscription?” Don’t worry, I am not a subscriber either, and so here comes the cool part:
On Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program.
Yes. 2 more days and you will be able to see a RC version of Windows 7. A lot of different builds were made between 7000 (Beta 1) and this version (which I believe is to be above 7100). Expect a ton of bugfix, improvements, and heck, even new features!
Don’t forget to obtain a copy for yourself at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353271.aspx on May 5!
(Note that you will have to do a fresh install over your Windows installation (yes, even Windows 7) to install the RC. I think it’s worth it though)

Installed after riding XP through Vista…very glad I got 3GB of RAM otherwise I’d have to go back to XP!

Actually, I had 2GB and ran both Vista and Win 7 quite smoothly. I actually don’t notice much difference between 2GB and 4GB (I added 2GB recently).

I agree Windows 7 is quite smooth but I must note that memory usage for me on average is about 1.5GB with just FF and WLM running.

Well, now that RAM is so cheap, I don’t really care about how much RAM is used, or at last not as much as CPU. And it has done a good job on the latter.
